1. FSA:
An FSA is a pretax benefit allowable under
Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 125. The plan allows eligible
employees to set aside a specific pretax dollar amount for
unreimbursed medical, dental, vision, orthodontia, and dependent
care expenses. If you have predictable out-of-pocket expenses, you
may want to consider opening an FSA. You have the option to open
two separate accounts under your FSA: Medical up to $2,500 and
Dependent Care up to $5,000. Please see the attached enrollment
booklet for more details. This plan has a one month wait before you
can enroll and once you make your election for the FSA you are not
able to make a change unless you have a Qualifying event* or until
the next open enrollment period which opens in November for a
January 1st effective date. *A
Qualifying event typically includes: marriage or divorce, death of
your spouse or dependent, birth or adoption of a child, termination
or commencement of spouse’s employment, change in employment
status from part-time to full-time or full-time to part-time for
you or your spouse, leave of absence by you or your spouse. Changes
must be made within 30 days of the qualifying event. This change is
allowable only if it affects your eligibility to participate in the
plan.
